The Efficacy and Safety of Teprenone in Treatment of Gastric Ulcer

Abstract

|
We assessed the efficacy and safety of tetraprenylacetone (TPA) which was a newly introduced stimulator of mucus production on gastric ulcer. Twenty patient with endoscopically diagnosed gastric ulcer were treated with 50mg of teprenone orally three times daily for 4, 8,12 weeks.
The results were as follows:
1) The rate of complete endoscopic healing of gastric ulcer was 25% at 4 weeks, 75% at 8 weeks and 80% at 12 weeks.
2) Clinical symptoms disappeared in 85% of patients with gastric ulcer at 8 weeks
3) No patient developed any side effects of drug including renal and liver functions.
These results demonstrated that teprenone 50mg three times daily PO could be effective and safe in. treatment of gastric ulcer patients.
